Opal is pay as you go, but there are lots of rewards for regular travellers, including Daily and Weekly Travel Caps and the Weekly Travel Reward of half-price travel after eight paid journeys each week.*

How to get an Opal card
Adult and Child/Youth Opal cards are available over the counter from 2,100 Opal retailers. To find one near you, look out for the Opal symbol at nearby stores, or visit retailers.opal.com.au.
Adult, Child/Youth, Gold Senior/Pensioner and Concession Opal cards are available to order from opal.com.au or by calling 13 67 25 (13 OPAL). You'll just need to allow five to seven working days for delivery to an Australian address.
Opal single trip tickets
Opal single trip tickets and Opal single bus tickets are only available as Adult or Child/Youth single-use tickets for train, bus, ferry and light rail trips within the Opal network. They're designed as a back-up option in case you don't have an Opal card yet, or you don't have your Opal card with you. This means if you're eligible for concession travel you need to apply for a Concession or Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card to access concession fares.
Opal single trip tickets for buses are available for purchase directly on-board the buses accross the network from drivers.
